Year:                    2015

Material:             Cherry wood

About:

I have worked on a number of unusual installation pieces and one of these was ‘Rotunda Serotina’. Benchmark were commissioned to build the structure, designed by Kolman Boye architects for the 2015 Wallpaper* ‘Handmade’ exhibition at that year’s Milan furniture festival. In turn I was tasked with working with the architects and our makers to find a way of achieving this!

The end result was a free standing structure made entirely of cherry, over 3.7m in diameter and nearly 4m in height. It used square peg joints, 3,084 separate pieces connected by 1,008 joints and on its shelves 528 branded trays to be given away!

Key Responsibilities:

Design resolution (with the designers and makers), project management, production of workshop drawings, assisting in solving production challenges, coordination of shipping and installation in Milan.
