The Fat Duck Chair

46 new chairs for Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck restaurant. Designed by Ab Rogers and with collaboration from Richard Seymour, it was a project for which only the best would be good enough.

The chair incorporated exceptional leather work and upholstery, injection molded foam, stainless steel hardware fabricated to fine tolerances and a swivel mechanism for diners to easily enter and leave their table.

I was tasked with working with the designers, client, manufacturers and craftsmen to produce a series of prototypes that would realise the design intent and crucially be producible. We went through three or four prototypes before eventually getting to where we wanted to be and then pressing the button on production!
